TravelStaytion, in collaboration with Vrbo and Expedia Group, successfully hosted the leadership event “Key Drivers of Growth of the Greek Vacation Rental Market” at Aigli Zappeion in Athens. The event brought together leading industry experts, property managers, and key stakeholders to explore current trends, growth opportunities, and the challenges shaping Greece’s short-term rental market.

The discussions emphasized Greece’s growing reputation as a top destination for vacation rentals, along with the need for continuous innovation in technology, quality standards, and strategic partnerships. Attendees had the opportunity to network, share knowledge, and gain valuable insights to support the growth of their businesses.

Martin Howley, Director of Analytics & Data Science at Expedia Group, presented a comparative analysis of market trends, positioning Greece in the broader context of the Mediterranean region. James Cassidy, Senior Director of Partner Success, Vacation Rentals EMEA at Expedia Group, shared key performance indicators and insights on distribution channels, highlighting Vrbo’s potential and strategy for 2025. Jason Anastasinis, Founder and CEO of TravelStaytion, underscored the importance of quality and effective distribution strategies in maximizing revenue and enhancing guest experience.

A highlight of the event was a panel discussion titled “Characteristics of a Leading Destination: Is Greece Ticking the Boxes?”, moderated by Liza Katsouraki, Board Member at Ennea Capital Partners. Panelists included Kalia Konstantinidou, Group Executive Officer at Empiria Group; Tim Rosolio, Vice President of Vacation Rental Partnerships at Expedia Group; and Jason Anastasinis. Together, they explored key aspects of Greece’s vacation rental market, including its current property inventory, infrastructure, service quality, evolving traveler needs, and the importance of professional property management.

When asked what makes Greece truly unique as a destination, panelists described it using three words: “majestic” (Tim Rosolio), “transformative” (Kalia Konstantinidou), and “hospitality oriented ” (Jason Anastasinis) — reflecting the country’s distinctive charm and strong appeal on the global travel industry.

“This event was a great opportunity to better understand how Greece can further strengthen its position in the vacation rental market,” said Jason Anastasinis. “Through collaboration, the adoption of technological solutions, and a strong focus on quality, we can fully capitalize on the opportunities in the industry.”
