Ideally located in the heart of the town, you’ll have restaurants, cafes, shops and pubs to explore right on the doorstep. Whitby beach is also a short 5-minute walk away so you can really make the most of your coastal escape. If you’re looking for a homely place to stay, look no further than Clinker Cottage.

Clinker Cottage is a welcoming and snug holiday home in Whitby. This small two-bedroom cottage features a living room, fully equipped kitchen, double bedroom, shower room and loft twin bedroom.

When entering the cottage, you’ll be welcomed into the living room. Cosy and stylish, this space is perfect for relaxing during your stay. Featuring a comfortable, velvet sofa and a large flat screen TV, you can retreat here after a fun-filled day exploring Whitby.

Following on from this space is the kitchen. Sleek and sophisticated in design, the kitchen features high shine cabinets and star print tiles. Fully equipped with modern amenities and appliances, you’ll have everything you could need for your self-catering stay. You can prepare home cooked meals by making use of the oven, microwave, kettle, fridge freezer and toaster. There is also the added luxury of a coffee machine so you can kick start each day with a fresh coffee!

Also sharing this space is a breakfast bar with two black stools where you can enjoy meals and a drink during your stay.

Head upstairs to the first floor and you’ll find the master bedroom and bathroom. Tranquil and cosy, the master bedroom boasts crisp white walls and abstract wall art. There is also a beautiful, original fireplace which brings a traditional twist to the otherwise contemporary space.

The main bathroom in Clinker Cottage is accessed via the master bedroom. Clean and modern, it includes a walk-in shower, WC and basin.

Take the winding staircase from the master bedroom up to the second floor and you’ll reach the loft bedroom. This space features sloped ceilings, original beams and single twin beds.

Every care has been taken to ensure you have a comfortable night’s sleep at Clinker Cottage as the beds benefit from plush bedding and premium bed linens.

The centre of Whitby is a short ten-minute walk from Clinker Cottage.

Whitby train station is less than half a mile away on foot so villages and towns along the North Yorkshire coast can easily be reached via rail. There’s also a taxi rank in close proximity to the train station.

There are plenty of bus routes throughout Whitby. Hop on the X4 and you can visit beautiful coastal villages like Sandsend, Runswick Bay and Staithes. The X93 travels along the coast to Scarborough. The 95 route features plenty of quaint villages, such as Grosmont and Lealholm.

Location

Set on the West side of Whitby, Clinker Cottage is just a short walk from the central Flowergate. Find cosy pubs, fun arcades and plenty of fish restaurants on Pier Road. Venture along the lively road and you’ll reach the beautiful, blue flag West Cliff Beach which is lined with idyllic beach huts. At the other end of Pier Road, you’ll find the swing bridge which sits over the River Esk.

On the opposite side of the bridge is the East bank. The side of Whitby is full of narrow, medieval streets dotted with boutiques, pubs and fish restaurants. Climb the famous 199 steps up to the Church of Saint Mary. You can also discover the renowned ruined Whitby Abbey, which was the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s gothic novel ‘Dracula’.

Step outside of Whitby and you’ll uncover a haven of woodland and moorland. Whitby forms part of the North York Moors National Park so it’s the perfect place for long walks.

    We expected the cottage to be small. It was all lovely and clean but with a few issues mainly with the bathroom that we were not expecting. The shower and toilet is bigger than we thought but you can only access it from the master bedroom. The attic room with two singles means that if you need the loo in the night you have to pass down the stairs into the the master bedroom and is a squeeze to go to the loo. The doors of the Loo are also bifold and do not shut all the way closed! The sink is the smallest i have ever seen. The shelf above the sink is also very close to the top of the sink making it impossible to spit out your toothpaste or put your head over the sink to have a wash etc. We were only two nights so we managed. The downstairs kitchen are had a musty stale smell to it of dampness. Living room - You can get 3 x people on the couch depending on size and a good tv selection available on the TV. We could not get the heating to work at all as it was quite cold on one night of our stay and upstairs was freezing. A tea towel would have been nice to be provided as well. £25 security deposit, none refundable was also an addition really not needed. Or a refundable payment of £500 prior to arrival? Lastly it states free parking available. We took this as on site! It really is not and no parking available. it costs £9 overnight to park if your lucky enough to get on one of the car parks all 5 to 10 mins walk. I do not understand why they do not participate in the permit scheme meaning 2 x days parking in the W zone is only £3 and we managed to park 1 x minute away with the permit from our friends at the local guest house. In closing fine for a short stay with a max of maybe 3 x people. It did the job and not to expensive for the time of year so all in all happy.
