Description
This is a country villa sitting on a secluded mountain top in the countryside not far from a tiny stone village called Tocchi, which is located approximately 20 minutes drive south of Siena. Records show the villa dates back to 1204. The villa was inhabited until the start of World War II, after which it was left to fall into ruin. In 1995 the present owner bought the property and has painstakingly restored it, transforming it into a wonderfully villa that allows guests the opportunity to pamper themselves.
In the extensive gardens there is a beautiful large pool (20x10 meter and deep 1,60 meter) positioned below the villa. The lawn surrounding the pool is dotted with sunbeds, chairs and umbrellas, providing guests the perfect sunny position to relax and enjoy the breathtaking views of the river Merse valley. Next to the pool there is a sauna that is open for use during predefined times of the day, the exact times will be provided on arrival at the villa. The sauna area also has showers and changing rooms.
The external part of the complex is complete and includes three tubs heated to different temperatures, a frigidarium (cold), the tepidarium (tepid) and a caldarium (hot) nestled on the edge of the forest with the perfume of the nearby lemon and orange trees wafting past. Guests can start their circuit of the bath complex with a sauna in the fine Finish sauna, progress to the solar heated swimming pool.
Villa Astro 27 exudes such tranquility and natural beauty that it will be very tempting to just stay there, enjoying the fresh air, walking through the forest, toiling in the organic vegetable garden with the gardener, assisting the chef to prepare dinner or simply lazing around and listening to the sounds nature. Scattered around the gardens are several furnished terraces where it is possible to enjoy the Tuscan sun in total tranquillity. The forest has several hiking trails with benches located at several points to admire the view. These trails pass various livestock that belong to the villa owner. These animals include a rare breed of pigs, the local Cinta Senese pig, Chianina cattle highly prized for their meat for Florentine steak, chicken and sheep.
There are also a couple of small lakes which are filled with trout which, on request, can be cooked for you by the chef.

Attractions
The villa is located near Tocchi, in the municipality of Monticiano, between the ancient Roman thermal baths of Petriolo and the Cistercian Abbey of San Galgano, in the province of Siena, which is about 25 km away. Easy to reach by plane, train or car, a shuttle service and private car is still available from the main stations and airports. There is also a small heliport nearby: the villa is, for example, about a 40-minute flight from Rome.

Interior Description
Villa Astro 27 is made up of a main building, a Guest House and a Guest Suite (located in a separate building). The whole property can accommodate up to 28 guests in 14 bedrooms. The main building is divided into 10 double bedrooms for a total of 20 sleeping places.
Each bedroom has its own bathroom, with bath and handheld shower and complimentary Florentine soaps and shampoos. The beds are made up with fine linens. All the bedrooms have flat screen televisions. The suites also have comfortable sitting areas.
For guests at the ancient residence, stylish interiors in natural materials: terracotta tiles, wooden beams, wrought-iron and great care taken over the combinations of colors. Fourteen of the villa's rooms are large (15-20 sq m), with spacious bathrooms en suite, filled with light and furnished with period pieces. Every detail is a homage to nature lovers: the windows open onto the park, the swimming pools and the woods, stretching as far as the eye can see.

- In the main building: bedroom 1 which has a double bed, en-suite bathroom with tub and shower and outdoor entrance.
- In the Guest House, bedroom 2 with double bed, en-suite bathroom with tub and shower, bedroom 3 with double bed, en-suite bathroom with shower, bedroom 4 with double bed, en-suite bathroom with tub and shower.

The property is completed with the following: Astronomical observatory (although it cannot be used without qualified supervision, the Astronomical Society of Siena is at guests disposal by appointment, to show and explain the wonders of the night skies.).
Something new to discover in every season: from the splendid colors of the autumn foliage to gazing at the stars in the clear winter sky, from rides on horseback to relaxing in pools of water at different temperatures, all amidst breathtaking scenery.

Our Opinion:
Ideal for friends on vacation, for gatherings of stargazers, yoga courses or incentive groups, for managers who need to recharge their batteries, for team building programs, small-scale meetings or original events.
