Experience

Kahaluʻu Bay is just minutes away and is one of the island’s best places for snorkeling. Calm, shallow waters and a sheltered reef make it a safe and colorful spot for beginners and seasoned snorkelers alike. Sea turtles are frequent visitors here, and you’ll find vibrant coral gardens teeming with tropical fish just steps from the shore. For surfers, the northern end of the bay offers a popular surf break where you can watch or join the locals riding waves.

The sunny Kona District is famous for its crystal-clear waters, vibrant culture, and historic landmarks such as Huliheʻe Palace, Mokuʻaikaua Church, and Ahuʻena Heiau—all just about 8 miles south of Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport. Kona is also a hub for world-class deep-sea fishing, hosting the prestigious International Billfish Tournament each August, and is home to the iconic IRONMAN World Championship every October. In the cooler upland slopes, you’ll find the legendary Kona coffee farms, where the island’s most celebrated beans are grown.
