Tucked within a charming cluster of eight vintage bungalows, this cozy cottage shares a grassy front yard dotted with fragrant orange and lemon trees. Though compact at 420 sq ft, it’s a true 1-bedroom with a separate kitchen, living room, and bathroom—simple, quirky, and full of character. Built in 1939 to house workers, it’s not fancy, but it’s full of charm and practicality. Located just blocks from Balboa Park, Little Italy, and the Gaslamp Quarter, this is your ideal San Diego base.

You’ll be in a lively, historic neighborhood surrounded by unique eateries, craft cocktail spots, and grand old homes. On Saturdays, stroll to the Little Italy Mercato for local produce, gourmet eats, and artisan goods. Kids and dogs are welcome—this city embraces both!

Please note: the unit is directly beneath a flight path, so airplane noise is part of the experience (watching the landings can be quite the spectacle!). As it’s ground level and near trees and grass, bugs may appear if food is left out—just something to be mindful of during your stay.

The Cottage is located directly in the flight path of San Diego International Airport. Planes fly directly overhead approaching the runway for landing.

Getting around is easy in San Diego. Public transportation is widely available with a bus stop around the corner. Uber & Lyft is available within minutes, and city-provided bicycle rental racks are located just a few blocks away. Guests can also walk to several train station & trolley stops in Little Italy including Santa Fe Depot.
